prayer in a crowd

Each of us, with camera eyes,
shoots this moment from a different angle.
We watch each other watch each other,
hearing fragments of conversations
from different acts in the same play.
We move uncomfortably together,
our hearts and hands closed and cold.

Lord, help us to see You
within each other,
to find You in the crowd,
Your eyes holding all our images,
Your ears hearing every word,
Your arms open.

Welcome to my website, a place of poetry and images celebrating the joy of being alive.  The poems are my way of celebrating God's love for us and remembering that time--every moment of it-is holy.

a moment of grace

For a brief moment of grace, Lord,
I was absolutely certain You were there.
In the stillness of my deepest room
my being burned in adoration,
a candle before the Sun.

The moment passed
and I was pulled back into my world
bearing the wound of that shared fire.

Lord, give me that moment again.
